The Appeal

The Mk4 XR3i made the original blue collar hot hatch better. Better as in faster and more luxurious. Later cars, like this one, got Ford’s own heavily revised ‘EFI’ fuel injection system that is preferred by purists.
These cars were built to enjoy, with many succumbing to modification. Not so this one. It has clearly been cherished and remains, across its bright red paintwork and grey velour interior, pleasing original. You’ll even find the original coded Ford radio cassette still in place.
A run of 13 service stamps to 85,430 miles - it is now on 85,506 miles - support that impression of love and care. The last service included replacing the cambelt and water pump. Whether outside or in, this is a very well kept car that would shine at any show. Or simply jump in and enjoy one of the ‘80s most popular hot hatches.
