The Appeal

Introduced as a successor to the 924, Porsche's new baby was quite the stylish prospect. The 944 was a car of evolution, not revolution, but it was endlessly important for the company. It introduced the now very well-regarded 2.5-litre slant four, which transformed its handling and created a very competitive package.

The car enjoyed plenty of success, but it was the introduction of the Turbo in 1985. This gave an impressive boost of 60hp, and had the 944 rising the ranks of performance Porsches very quickly. All of a sudden, it was rubbing shoulders with the 911 - shoulders that had been lightly restyled and further souped up with an uprated transmission.

This fabulous 1988 example comes to us the rare, one-year-only 'Silver Rose' paintwork, with an evocative red fabric interior and an impressively peaceful history. This car has been family owned from new, with only five transfers of ownership throughout its life.

It's been subject to a major service and a replacement timing belt, too. It's been very well documented, and to our eyes, makes up a simply excellent opportunity - in a very rare colourway that's sure to turn plenty of heads.
