The Appeal

By the mid 2000s, the Ministry of Defence had a problem. It relied on a vast fleet of Land Rovers for a variety of roles, but the trouble was, they were getting rather long in the tooth. Some were over thirty years old - so not really p to the rigours of active service. Replacing the whole fleet would be an enormous strain on the national purse strings. So they hatched a plan called "Tithonus" in which the older Land Rovers would undergo a comprehensive refurbishment programme.

The 1988 110 Defender Wolf received the Tithonus treatment in 2007 when it was upgraded to contemporary Wolf specification. Finally retired in 2012, it has been used sparingly in civilian life, with the odometer now showing 107,760 km (approximately 62,000 miles.

While it has been off the road since 2020 and requires some light recommissioning, it runs and drives, presenting a fantastic opportunity for enthusiasts looking to own a piece of military history with the potential for further.
