The Appeal
The W126 can justifiably make claim to being the best executive saloon of the 80s. Engineered and built to exacting standards, these were cars for captains of industry.
There were a huge array of engines available, of which the M116 4.2L was a good real-world option, blending as it does decent urge with reasonable economy. This Diamond Blue metallic 420SE has had just six registered keepers in its life, all of whom no doubt enjoyed its sumptuous Royal Blue leather cabin.
It has been in regular recent use and runs and drives, but will need some recommissioning. The last MOT expired in June 2023 - there were no advisories - so a retest will also be on the buyer’s To Do list. Once sorted, this looks like a very appealing way into ownership of these highly regarded and very rewarding executives expresses.

- Signs of age and use to paintwork as shown in photographs
- Bodywork generally presentable but with localised smalls areas of deterioration
- These include bubbles to wing tops and each arch
- Arches fitted with chrome embellishers
- Exterior fittings in fair condition showing some marks and deterioration
- This includes corrosion to bumper chrome blades
- Grey bumpers show some marks and scuffs as shown in images
- Underside appears solid with no advisories on last MOT
- There are some areas of surface corrosion to note and inspect in photos
- Under bonnet area generally well kept but with area of corrosion to nearside rear corner
- Fitted with factory ‘Gullideckel’ alloy wheels in fair condition
- Tyres appears to be older but present with good tread
- High specification Royal Blue leather (272) interior in fair condition
- Some signs of age and marks due to recent lack of use to note in photos
- Front seats show light creasing and wear to usual base and bolster surfaces
- Switchgear and trim complete and generally presentable with areas to note in photos
- These include some delamination of the burr walnut veneers and cracks to dash top
- The cabin would likely respond well to a professional valet across seats, trim and carpets
- Boot area carpet is complete but shows light staining
- Spare wheel with jack and tool set present
- Specification includes steel electric sliding sunroof, electric and heated front seats and cruise control
- Fitted with an aftermarket Pioneer Cd player
- We have not tested and cannot verify the functionality of the cabin features
