The Appeal
For this ultra rare 308 we have to thank Ferrari's iconic - and utterly gorgeous - 288 GTO. Ferrari used that car to perfect the turbocharging and intercooling technology that makes the 308 GTS Turbo so, so good.
The idea came about because Ferrari needed a sub-2litre car for the domestic market. Shrinking the divine Dino V8 to 1,991cc and bolting on a water-cooled IHI turbo created a 250bhp sports car as potent as the naturally aspirated versions but with a distinct power delivery.
Which is where all that 288GTO experience came into play. The 308 GTS Turbo delivered its power not in the peaky manner typical of other turbocharged cars, but with a more seamless power deliver typical of the naturally aspired cars.
Only 1,136 turbocharged 308s were built, of which only a few hundred were Targa-topped cars like this GTS Turbo. It is a really great example - a low mileage, well maintained car classically finished in Rosso over Creme. Inside and out it is a treat for the eyes. The odometer shows less than 60,000 km, and the car still has its original plates and registration documents.

Both inside and out, this beautiful GTS Turbo appears in quite remarkable condition. The bodywork seems in excellent shape, with no flaws to report, and the Ferrari Red paint is still bright and even.
Elegant details such as the chrome front grille, the Ferrari emblems and lettering, the rear spoiler and the classic alloy wheels look in excellent shape. The underside appears well cared for as well, with very few signs of use, clean surfaces and no trace of oxidation.
Inside, the striking cream leather upholstery, the purposeful and complete instrument cluster with Veglia Borletti dials, the classic three-spoke Momo steering wheel, the iconic Ferrari chrome gear selector grille and all the other fascinating details appear in striking condition. The removable roof of this GTS version makes it even more enjoyable and versatile.
