The appeal
The enduring appeal of the R107 SL is not hard to identify. The qualities that made it so popular when new - superb engineering, excellent reliability and an effortless sunroof - are all things that collectors continue to admire.
The car was particularly popular in the US and these models enjoyed particularly high specifications. Having often spent their lives on the motorways of dry countries, these cars are increasingly being repatriated to meet Europe's insatiable demand for these great cars.
Here is one such car, a late model 380SL with low mileage and recent restoration and respray. Beautifully presented in Champagne on dark red leather, it is perfect for an intercontinental trip or a weekend getaway.

- The veneers are complete and very presentable, but slight cracks are visible on the centre console.

- The boot is also in good condition, with excellent carpeting and complete trim.
- The red sill trim is intact and was probably replaced during the restoration.
- The hardtop trim appears to be original and in good condition.
The exterior
- The restored bodywork has been repainted in Champagne metallic (code 473U), to factory standards.
- The paintwork is in very good condition, with no damage to the bodywork or marks visible in the photos.
- The original black cloth roof has been replaced with a dark brown version that matches the car's colour scheme.
- The roof looks almost new and is in excellent condition, with the clear panels showing no crease marks.
