The Appeal
Even for a company not much used to understatement, Ford’s ‘Special’ Capri really was a treat for buyers. UK showrooms were the only ones lucky enough to get this upgraded V6 Capri with its Recaro interior and LSD.
The Injection Special was launched in mid 1984, which makes this car one of the earliest built. First registered in March of the following year it is a remarkable find for fast Ford enthusiasts. With the same keeper since October 1988 - with just one before that - it has recently benefited from a full engine rebuild, mechanical fettling, new sills and paintwork.
Highly original in Midnight Blue, including the factory-fitted radio cassette, this is a very good example of one of classic motoring’s best-loved coupes. All of which is confirmed by a long MOT to December 2024. One not to miss.
The History and Paperwork
- First UK registered 8th March 1985
- Just two registered keepers
- Current keeper since 1st October 1988
- Vendor advises that the car has been dry stored for 18 of those 35 years
- Chassis number confirms that this is a genuine 2.8 Injection Special
- EK chassis and engine prefix confirm it was built in June 1984
- This would make it a very early factory built Special
- MOT to 5th December 2024 with 3 miles covered since test and one minor advisory
- Vendor advises that the odometer has gone around the clock once
- Significant recent work by vendor
- Engine rebuilt in December 2021 with invoice for over £3,000 in photographs

- Interior trim well kept with only bolster wear to driver’s seat to note

- Even retains its factory Ford radio cassette system
- Vendor advises that the parcel shelf requires attention
- Underside in good order with no structural advisories on last MOT
