The Appeal

Let's get down to brass tacks - the GTV6 is a work of athletic art. Loaded with the 60° Busso V6, with a De Dion rear suspension - stuck on a shortened Alfetta chassis. That's an incredible bit of spec, and one that enabled these swept-back sport cars to conquer the European Touring Car Championship for three years straight, alongside the BTCC and Tour de Corse.

It's little wonder they've become such a prized classic. That's a pedigree that most motorists can only dream of, and coupling it together with that legendary Italian styling - wedge shaped, angular and veering towards retro-futurism in its nature.

With only 10,000 miles covered in the last 14 years, this rich blue example is utterly solid and has been sparingly used. It comes to us in highly original condition, ready and waiting to inflict its winning soundtrack on your eyes and show off its abilities on the asphalt.

The History and Paperwork

  • Built in December 1983
  • Registered in March 1985
  • ULEZ, tax, and MOT exempt
  • Despite being exempt, the car is accompanied by an MOT valid until 29th June 2025
  • Only 10,000 miles driven in the last 14 years, according to MOT history online
  • Comes with an Alfa Romeo certificate to prove its build date
  • Service book is not available, but there are receipts for extensive work
  • Comes with loads of invoices for repairs and maintenance, including recent head gaskets

The Condition

  • Originally silver, now in a blue, taken from the Alfa Romeo palette, seen on the V8 Montreal
  • Bodywork looks in very good order, including the chassis and underside
  • Small area of corrosion where the back bumper meets the body
  • However, this is non-structural and of no serious concern
  • Some light scratches and marks to the bumpers
  • Car has original factory alloys that were an expensive optional extra in 1983
  • Black pinstripe interior with a manual sunroof
  • Interior is in fine order, with very nicely presented seats
  • All instruments are clear and legible

The Mechanics

  • Powered by the legendary 2.5-Litre Busso V6 engine
  • Manual transmission with 5 gears
  • Features a 5-speed transaxle gearbox with no problems selecting 1st or 2nd gear
  • Equipped with an Ansa sports exhaust, which, coupled with the famous Busso V6, sounds 'intoxicating'
  • The vendor informs us that the engine and handling are superb
