The Appeal

Perhaps one of the most enduring classics out there, the R107 is one of the ultimate developments of old Mercedes-Benz - when the company was building some of the finest cars on the planet. A combination of rock-solid engineering and inimitable boxy styling made these big roadsters a perfect hit for the zeitgeist, and they're now a highly prized, near-ubiquitous classic.

Acquired by the current owner around three years ago, this 280SL has been subject to work closing in on the £10,000 mark, composed of plenty of new parts. The hardy six-cylinder engine has proven its reliability on long journeys, including a recent trip from London to Puglia.
