The Appeal
The 308 is the original Ferrari poster car. There had been beautiful, sculptural Maranello cars before but the 308 changed things: from TV and film sets to celebrity driveways, this was the car everyone wanted.
And with good reason, because it did and does looks incredible. Penned by the same Pininfarina designer who gave us the Daytona, it continues to influence Ferrari styling. There were several different versions, of which the 308GTS, built from 1977 to 1980, was the most popular. It incorporated a Targa roof without disrupting those evocative lines.
This is one of the last of those built, classically finished in Rosso Corsa over creme. Owned by a former Ferrari racer, it is a low mileage car in excellent order with a thick history file. It has covered very few miles since a service and belt change.
For enthusiasts of this iconic Ferrari and one of the greatest sports cars of the last 50 years, this is a great opportunity to add to your collection.

Nearly 44 years after this car first rolled out of the showroom, it retains every inch of the drama and beauty that made the 308 such an icon from its launch. Classically finished in Rosso Corsa over creme - this car is the living embodiment of those bedroom posters, a vision enhanced by those smart 16in Compomotives.
Across the interior and exterior it is excellent, unmarked condition. This is a testament to its keepers, particularly the seller who is a Ferrari collector . The thick history file carefully documents the maintenance and restoration work. The interior was retrimmed in creme in 1990 and its current condition attests to that fastidiousness it’s also Re trimmed in Dec 23 at a cost of £1200.

Carburetted 2,928cc Ferrari Dino V8 delivering 255bhp
Timing belts and service at 74,711 miles in March 2018
Well detailed history file documenting maintenance since the date of supple
5spd manual gearbox
Beyond the sinuous looks, like any Ferrari the 308 is really about the driving experience and in particular the engine. Equipped with a 3litre version of the exquisite Dino V8 the 308GTS breaths through carburettors to deliver 255bhp.
Naturally the key with any classic Ferrari is the maintenance history. This car comes with a veritable tome of history, contained in a smart leatherbound folder and supported by typed notes from the vendor. This supports the low mileage - verified by a raft of old MOTs - and confirms regular servicing and belt changes right up to December 2023, and into January 2024.
The seller has a team of mechanics that work for him, maintaining his classic car collection and has undertaken the maintenance since purchase. The previous owner a serial Ferrari owner and Ferrari Owners Club member, he has owned the car for 20 years regularly for trips to Le Mans. More recently it has been driven sparingly to preserve the condition. It is reported to run well with no mechanical issues to report.

If an auction vehicle doesn't sell, it may be converted into a “Make an offer” listing. This will retain all of the details of the auction listing but replace the bidding functionality with an offering system whereby potential buyers can make an offer on the vehicle. To take the hassle out of the whole process and to prevent any unnecessary squabbling we'll automatically decline anything less than 70% of the asking price so only offers that are worth considering will be accepted. Make an offer listings include a “Make an offer” button. Simply click on this and enter the amount you’d like to offer and the seller will either accept, decline or counter. Easy peasy. If you don’t have a Car & Classic account with a registered bank card you’ll be prompted to set one up at this point.
If your offer is accepted, you’ll be charged a service fee. The amount depends on the cost of the vehicle and is an additional cost on top of the offer amount. Starting from as little as £/€300, it covers the cost of our various auction and escrow services, but rest assured, we're not in the woollen eyewear business and so the exact amount is always displayed upfront before you place your bid. You will only be charged if your offer is accepted.
The service fee is a charge in addition to any accepted offer amount that varies depending on the cost of the vehicle. Starting from as little as £/€300, the exact fee is clearly displayed upfront before any offer is placed so you always know exactly how much you'll be charged. It covers the cost of our various auction and escrow services and allows us to continue to provide a secure and professional platform from which to transact safely.
If you've ever squeezed a lemon then this'll be a doddle. Firstly you'll need to be logged in to your Car & Classic account and have added a valid payment card to your profile. Once these steps have been completed you can then make an offer by clicking on the "Make an offer" button on the listing page and entering your offer amount before clicking on the “Submit Offer” button underneath.
