The Appeal

Reliant’s Scimitar is beloved of Royalty and one of classic motoring’s gems. It popularised the coming together of two seemingly disparate ideas - dog conveyance and press-on sports motoring - in a package both stylish and possessed of Ford’s torquey Essex V6.
The practicality, comfort, rust-resistance and good build quality of the later SE6 cars make them very appealing as classics, whether as daily drivers or show stars. This handsome ‘77 SE6A could be pressed into either role thanks to the considerable recent investment of its Scimitar-enthusiast keeper.
It is a very tidy example - albeit with scope to improve the cosmetics - that is in fine running order. Recent professional work has included attention to the engine, electrics, carburettors, brakes and replacing the timing gears. It is only for sale to fund the improvement of the seller’s other Scimitar. He describes it as a ‘working project’ but the list of work and photos suggest that may be underselling it. As an added incentive, it is one of the desirable manual overdrive cars.
Usefully provided with an advisory-free MOT - although it it exempt by age - and a thick history file, this is a well-sorted example of a that rarest of classics: one that appeals to the head and the heart.
