The Appeal
With its sweeping, sporty Bertone design, the Alfa Romeo Montreal was launched in 1970. It was a highly charismatic V8-powered car, loaded with detailing and notable for its distinctive take on the pop-up headlight. They sadly didn't fly out of the shelves as the Italians had hoped - likely as it was quite the wallet-buster - but their performance couldn't be denied, and they remain a highly prized classic to this day.
This particular 1975 Alfa Romeo Montreal has been meticulously restored and maintained, and acts as a fabulous ambassador to its model. The restoration has been extensively catalogued, and it's clearly been cosseted. This rare Italian classic is sure to turn plenty of heads.
History and Paperwork
- First registered in Germany on September 1, 1975
- Exported to Austria and later returned to Germany by a collector
- In 2015/2016 the car’s body was stripped to bare metal, repaired and resprayed in its factory colour
- Certified as a historic vehicle in Germany in 2022
- 85,000km on a five-figure odometer - The vendor reports that this is believed to be accurate
- Original Austrian vehicle registration document issued in 1978 is available
- Various invoices for restoration and subsequent maintenance available

The Condition
- Body was stripped to bare metal, corrosion issues fixed and resprayed in the original colour during 2015/2016 restoration
- Everything is still in fine fettle, with bright, clean paintwork
- No sign of any dents or dings
- The car is sat on its original wheels, which are shod in new-looking Vredestein tyres
- Underside is excellent with barely any signs of wear
- Interior in nice, highly original condition
- Some wear and spots of cracking to the plastic components
- Black fabric interior with beige carpets
- Wood-trimmed steering wheel
- All instruments are clean and legible
- We've not been informed of any technical faults with the cabin
- Carpets show some light signs of wear
The Mechanics
- 2.6 L Alfa Romeo Twin Cam V8 powerplant
- Equipped with a five-speed ZF gearbox
- Engine bay is still remarkably fresh following the restoration
- No leaks detected on gearbox or engine
- Suspension and brakes were rebuilt during restoration
- Engine, fuel and ignition system were checked and tuned during restoration
- Car is starting, shifting, braking and steering as well as it did leaving the factory
