The Appeal

Before the hot hatch, there were the AVO Escorts, a growing range of specially-built, high performance saloons channelling Ford’s rallying and motorsport heritage.
Quick and engaging, understandably, these cars are amongst the best-loved of the many fast Fords.  This 1974 Escort was restored in 2014, including a full respray in white and an engine rebuild, and has been used very sparingly since.  With its RS interior, deep dish polished alloys and upgrades including polybushing and a strut brace, it both looks good and goes well.
The car underwent what the seller describes as a ‘mini restoration’ in 2020.  It benefits from upgraded starter motor, battery and ignition and the coolant system has been improved with new hoses and radiator.  Perhaps it is no surprise that after all this work the car recently completed the North Coast 500 without issue and participated in a three day documentary in Glen Coe.
