The Appeal

Once Triumph’s best-selling vehicle, the TR6 has continued to age gracefully as ever, cementing itself as one of Britain’s finest classic sports cars. With sleek yet muscular styling cues, a fruity straight six under the bonnet, and excellent handling, it’s certainly very easy to see why.
This particular example is arguably one of the finer available, benefiting from the likes of a thorough restoration, regular maintenance, and plenty of care over the years. As examples of this caliber are becoming few and far between these days, this presents a very attractive opportunity for enthusiasts and collectors alike.

The History and Paperwork

  • Just 5 former keepers
  • Well maintained example
  • Plenty of history included
  • Previously restored, with photo documentation
  • Dry stored and treasured by the current keeper
  • Ready to be enjoyed
First registered on the 1st of August 1972, this Triumph TR6 has been enjoyed by just 5 former keepers over the years, and now displays just shy of 50k on the clock. Although difficult to verify from the car’s earlier years, online MOT history shows just 2,152 miles covered since 2006, which certainly supports the low mileage figure shown today.
Despite being savoured for special occasions and covering so few miles, the vehicle comes with an excellent amount of history and documentation. Included among which, is a selection of invoices detailing previous parts, repairs, and maintenance. A great deal of these invoices are from well-renowned specialists and suppliers, such as Rimmer Bros, and Moss Europe.

Also included, is supporting evidence for restoration in 1991. According to included correspondence from the restoration specialists, the process included a full strip-down, new sills, new door skins, new wings, necessary repairs, and of course; a full respray. Having covered so few miles since it should come as no surprise that this lovely little TR6 continues to stun today.

The Interior

  • Sleek black vinyl upholstery, with wooden detailing
  • Fitted with a JVC single DIN head unit, and Pioneer rear speakers
  • Includes a full tonneau cover within the boot
  • Presented in fantastic condition today, with minimal wear
As the images reflect, the interior of this TR6 is in remarkably impressive condition for its age, no doubt as a result of the low mileage covered. In fact, with the exception of very slight side bolster marking, both front seats seemingly show hardly any signs of use or age. Carpeting throughout the cabin follows suit, although a light detail would no doubt yield an even more impressive finish.
The dashboard and accompanying controls offer mostly blemish-free finishes, with perhaps only slight signs of age beginning to show on the dashboard. It deserves to be noted that all interior controls and instruments are believed to be in full working order, including the JVC head unit, and rear-mounted Pioneer speakers.
With the exception of minor blemishes, you’d certainly be hard-pressed to fault the tidy interior of this TR6.

The Exterior

  • Previously extensively restored
  • Reflects excellent craftsmanship, and continues to look fantastic to this day
  • A superb showcase of the TR6’s iconic styling
The exterior of this 1972 TR6 presents itself brilliantly, reflecting plenty of skilled craftsmanship from its restoration in 1991. Even to this day, the paintwork retains a fantastic finish, with seemingly only a few very minor chips and slight bubbling to show. As pictured, these defects are incredibly small and hardly diminish what remains a very impressive paint job and restoration.
Accompanying the glossy bodywork, are the vehicle’s 15” steel wheels, which come complete with centre caps and offer fantastic finishes all around. The wheels are wrapped in a set of Toyo tyres, with plenty of tread left to enjoy. Exterior trim components and details also present themselves rather well, with perhaps only very slight ageing to brightwork to note.
A key component of this roadster is of course the soft top roof, which offers clear windows, and a sleek black finish with no rips or tears. The roof folds away as it should, and is ready to provide plenty of top-down motoring fun.
Overall, this TR6 offers a very impressive finish, and will surely continue to attract the admiration of onlookers wherever it goes.

The Mechanics

  • 2498cc straight-six & manual transmission
  • Performs brilliantly, with no known faults to report
  • Well maintained, with plenty of history to support
  • Fitted with a Bosch electronic fuel pump
Buyers will be pleased to know that this handsome TR6 fires up right away, and performs exactly as it should. The 2.5L straight-six under the bonnet pulls well throughout the gears and provides a thoroughly enjoyable soundtrack as it does so.
A key factor to the vehicle’s excellent mechanical health is of course the abundant maintenance history, which details a huge array of expected consumables, regular servicing, and subtle improvements, such as the Bosch fuel pump. Further evidence of the excellent care shown, can of course be found within the nearly immaculate engine bay.
Now offered with no known issues to report and plenty of history under its belt, this TR6 is more than ready to be enjoyed out on the open roads.

Presented today is a superb opportunity to obtain a very handsome example of the roadster, boasting an excellent exterior, tidy interior, and fantastic mechanical health.
