The Appeal
What makes a great classic car? We’d argue that usability is one of, if not the most important factor. For the most part, Britain’s roads are potholed, damp, salty and slow-moving. So, if you want to have fun in a classic car, no matter where you are or what time of year it is, you should seriously consider a Series Land Rover.
This 1971 example is an early short-wheel-base Series III. The vendor acquired it in 2021 from a television vehicle hire company after it had featured in the Amazon Prime series ‘Pennyworth’. Since then, the Land Rover has been restored and rebuilt upon a brand-new galvanised chassis and the work was completed this year.
Every dent tells a story, so the vendor opted to keep them and repaint the car sympathetically - reportedly using no body filler whatsoever. As the photographs show, the car presents beautifully throughout, especially underneath which is beautifully clean and well-protected in readiness for whatever its future has in store. All the mechanicals have been seen to as well and this example boasts overdrive and free-wheeling front hubs to aid on-road cruising.
Complete with an advisory-free MOT, this freshly restored Series III is ready to enjoy.
The vendor comments:
“Driving a Series Land Rover is an experience you can't get with other classics. The car is mechanically excellent after thorough restoration and retains character and history through sympathetic bodywork.”
