The Appeal

Everybody loves a station wagon - so getting the legendary space-age DS bodywork and mechanics into a station wagon format is pure to shape into pure gold. Easily the most advanced estate cars of their era, these were known as the Safari or Wagon, depending on your territory, and quickly proved themselves just as remarkably as their base model.

Indeed, the BBC repurposed a few of these into filming equipment, as that world-renowned hydropneumatic suspension and the substantial rear space made for the ideal camera platform. Besides that, it was remarkably generous as a family car for the period - ideal for packing with groceries and the sort on the open road.

This 1971 example perfectly captures the Citroën DS - or, in this case - ID at its best. Part of a private collection for much of the 2010s, this car has recently been recommissioned for the road and has been subject to some cosmetic work, too. The result is a fabulous car that's ready and waiting for its new owner.
