The Appeal
When Alfa Romeo unveiled its Gandini-penned concept car at Expo 67 in Montreal the world got a new sort of Alfa and the car instantly got a name.
The production Montreal was a little different, but no less appealing. The visual conenctions to Marcelllo’s Miura remained and beneath the bonnet was a 2.6L 200bhp V8 derived, no less, from Alfa Romeo’s Tipo 33 racer.
3,925 were built and this is car number 313, a very early ‘71 that is, naturally, classically finished in Alfa Rosso Red. It has evidently been restored, the work finished to a high level inside and out. The fuel injection system was overhauled in summer 2023.
This car recently arrived in Czechia from Switzerland and is reported to be in very good mechanical condition. A very good example of a car whose reverence from enthusiasts grows annually.

If it’s not red is it really an Alfa Romeo? Looking at this beautiful ‘71 Montreal is confirmation of how well the colour suits its Gandini lines. It has clearly been restored to a high standard, the finish gleaming in the photos and carefully replicating the factory details.
The interior is a similarly story, the smart black leather trim showing few signs of age or use and remaining largely unmodified from factory standard - only a modern stereo appears to vary.

The Montreal moved from show star to showroom in just three years, in the process switching its original 1.6litre motor for a far more exotic 2.6litre V8 derived from Alfa Romeo’s Tipo 33 race car. Modern fuel injection helped lift power to a potent 200bhp, delivered via a typically slick 5spd manual gearbox.
This car is reported to run and drive well and to be fully functional. The fuel injection system was overhauled in summer 2023 and the car has covered few miles since. The vendor reports that the suspension is in good order but may benefit from attention in the near future.
