The Plus
The Series II was a short-lived but notable model in the E-Type line. As the US was Jaguar's main export market, Series II was introduced to comply with US National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration guidelines. The new E-Type incorporated a new wrap-around rear bumper, enlarged indicators and tail lamps, and removed the headlamp covers.
In addition to US safety requirements, there were also sensible mechanical improvements, including a larger radiator grille and the addition of two electric cooling fans to prevent the 4.2-litre XK engine from overheating.
This 1970 two-seater convertible is an original example of the beloved E-Type Series II. It has been in the hands of the current owner since 2011 and has been very well maintained by its current owners. The Jaguar is stored in a heated garage and has undergone a substantial mechanical overhaul.

As the photographs show, this Jaguar presents beautifully for its age. The bodywork looks great in this vintage red, and you'll notice that this car retains all the hallmarks of an E-Type Series II.
The body looks straight and solid, with good door and panel fit, while the chrome bumpers, trim and spoked wheels are all beautifully presented.
We were not informed of any noticeable wear apart from the superficial imperfections that virtually any car of this age is likely to exhibit. The interior trim is lightly patinated, a testament to its originality, while the installation of a new mohair soft top ensures that this Jaguar remains very usable in all weathers.

Jaguar enlarged its XK in-line six-cylinder engine during the production of the Series I to provide more torque. The 4.2-litre block was actually no more powerful than its 3.8-litre predecessor, but the increased capacity allowed drivers to accelerate in fourth gear without needing to downshift into third. This proved to be a popular improvement. Series II was the last E-Type to feature the XK engine before the arrival of Jaguar's less-desirable V12.
According to the seller, this example is great fun to drive, with solid performance and piece of mind to go long distances. In addition to the extensive engine work, the mechanical overhaul included clutch replacement, a new starter motor, a new alternator and an overhaul of the braking system. By all accounts, this E-Type is ready for use.
