The Appeal

Issigonis designed a small city car, but British Leyland - and the Mini's buyers - had other plans. On the road and on the racetrack, the factory Cooper and modified in-house models gave the Mini a new role: that of giant killer.

This pretty 1969 Mini Mk2 takes this theme to the extreme. Its pure Cooper looks hint at what's under the bonnet: a 1,300 cm3 Metro A-Series engine fitted with Cooper carburettors.

The car was acquired by the vendor in 1976 and used for a few years before being put out to dry. It was restored in 2018, body, mechanical and interior, and has been used only sporadically since. The result is a car that arrives on the market in very good condition, as the photos show. As a powerful alternative to a factory Cooper - and certainly a better performer - this car is stylish and well finished and should certainly offer plenty of fun.
