Bodywork, interior and mechanical restoration 2023
Smartly presented car in grey metallic with stripes
Desirable 1700GT with factory GT upgrades
Great example of these iconic four seater coupes
The Appeal
It was originally going to be called Colt, which gives you a clue to the template for ‘the car you always promised yourself.’ But in place of big V8 engines and GT pretensions, Europe’s Mustang was designed to be a lighter, nimbler sports car.
The early cars established the iconic long bonnet, chopped boot style that endured through nearly 20 years. Alongside the fairly conventional Mk2 Cortina underpinnings was the option of the innovative Taunus V4 engine. Ticking the ‘GT’ option box added contoured sports seats, ‘full instrumentation’ in the firm of six clocks and two speed wipers.
This V4 1700GT is a pre-facelift car that was been extensively restored in 2023 across the bodywork, interior and mechanicals. The condition shines through from the photos, its tasteful grey metallic paintwork enhanced by two sports stripes. It is pleasingly standard and ready to enjoy.
