The Appeal
Often cited as the first sporting scooter to reap mass market success, the Vespa G.S. 150 (Gran Sport) took the tried and tested Piaggio design, tripled the engine capacity and added a four-speed gearbox. Top speed was now around 65 mph - which is seriously quick on ten-inch wheels!
Today, these are rare machines as many buyers didn’t realise a strong 6 per cent oil mix was needed for their highly tuned two-stroke engines, resulting in many blowing up in the period. This 1969 G.S. 150 is one of the survivors, and as you’ll note from the photographs, it’s in very original order, sporting a rich patina.
Previously a Spanish example, now in Sweden, this Vespa offers an excellent opportunity to those seeking a usable classic scooter or else to collectors wishing to restore this most coveted of models. We understand it to be in good running, riding order.
