The Appeal

The Daimler version of the Jaguar Mk2 is the traditional secret amongst marque enthusiasts that is gradually being let out the bag. For a long time these smooth, relaxing Turner-engined cars lived under the Mk2’s shadow. Not now.
That’s with good reason. The V8 cars were more sumptuously equipped and, of course, had that small 2.5L engine, one of the pearls of the 60s motoring scene. With their automatic gearboxes these cars are perfect for longer drives and classic car events and tours.
This lovely WIllow Green car would be perfect for just that kind of use. It has covered just 1,000 miles since a £30,000 mechanical overhaul that rebuilt the engine, gearbox and radiator. That followed an earlier body restoration and respray. A thick history file carefully documents the work.
Today the car is both very presentable and utterly usable. There is scope for some light cosmetic fettling, but with its mechanical provenance this is a car where the buyer can turn the key, tune into the muted burble of those eight cylinder and thoroughly enjoy.
