The Appeal
Although the Volkswagen Type 2 was used for a wide range of purposes and offered in numerous body variants to suit all needs, today's collectors particularly seek out those built for leisure rather than business purposes. The most desired ones are the so-called 'Samba' - Microbuses factory-equipped with additional windows, pivoting side doors and a canvas sunroof.
This 1966 '21-window' Samba was sold new in Germany and received a complete restoration after being imported to the UK in 2004. It also received some improvements, including a 2,000 cm³ carburettor engine, air conditioning, Bluetooth audio system and LED lighting. In addition, the rear rows of seats convert into a bed, allowing the van to be used as a camper van if desired.
Now in Italy, this Volkswagen retains its British registration. For fans of air-cooled Volkswagens, it certainly represents an unmissable opportunity.
