The Appeal

History has taught us that the Italians know a thing or two about designing a stylish roadster. Convertibles from the likes of Ferrari, Alfa, Lancia and Fiat have been among the most fetching ever produced, and we’re delighted to offer this rather rare specimen.
The achingly beautiful drop-top you see here, resplendent in black with a sumptuous red interior, is a 1963 Fiat 1500 S. Designed by the great Pininfarina, these Spider versions resemble a kind of baby Ferrari 250 GT California or perhaps a Lancia Flaminia Spider.
We’re informed that this example was restored in its homeland in 2014, and has since been in the ownership of the same UK keeper from 2015 onwards. Superbly presented throughout, finished to a high standard and benefiting from MOT/road tax exemption, this little piece of “La Dolce Vita” is ready to be enjoyed.

The History and Paperwork

The Condition

  • Straight and solid-looking restored bodywork with good panel alignment and even door gaps both sides
  • Smart black paintwork with minimal blemishes apparent
  • The chromework shows very light signs of wear in places but nothing especially noteworthy besides a few localised chips and scratches
  • The folding soft top presents well and appears to fit neatly in both raised and lowered positions
  • Some patina to the ’Fiat’ grille badge
  • As the photographs show, the underside looks smart with minimal signs of wear and no obvious corrosion issues
  • Equipped with an electric aerial
  • The OEM steel wheels are complete with chromed hubcaps and Bridgestone tyres
  • The red vinyl upholstery looks to have been retrimmed to a goo standard
  • There does not appear to be much wear to the seats, door cards, carpets and controls
  • Period-correct ribbed rubber matting used for the footwells and boot

The Mechanics

  • 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine
  • Four-speed manual gearbox
  • Very smart engine bay
  • We understand the Fiat to be mechanically standard and in good running order
