The Appeal
Sure, Land Rovers today might grace the prim pavements of Knightsbridge, but there was a time when Solihul’s finest were built exclusively for hard work. Land Rovers were a ubiquitous presence in the British countryside, and farmers favoured the pickup variants with an enclosed cab and often a half tilt over the rear tun to keep the sheepdog dry.
We’re therefore delighted to offer this ‘proper’ Land Rover - a short-wheelbase 1962 Series II in textbook farmyard specification. Resplendent in the iconic hue of ‘Bronze Green’, this Land Rover has been subject to copious restoration work and is among the most usable examples we’ve ever encountered.
The paint and bodywork retain a light patina which suits Land Rovers of this vintage and also means you won’t be afraid to drive this one as originally intended. It now boasts a galvanised chassis and bulkhead - so practically every component of an original Land Rover that’s prone to corrosion has been upgraded to the extent that this IIA is now UK winter-proof. Flooded roads, potholes and snow drifts are no problem in one of these so as we head into autumn, this is a great time to buy. Mechanically, just about every component has seen some form of major overhaul or replacement so you can rest assured that this Series IIA is ready to enjoy.
