The appeal

Among the legends of British motoring, the Jaguar XK150 certainly holds a special place because of its looks, its impressive engine and its sporting qualities. Above all, it is simply a wonderful GT, perfect for touring Europe in the summer sun.

This 1960 model was originally a coupé, later converted into a cabriolet. Today, this XK 150 offers an authentic driving experience, with the in-line six-cylinder engine at the front belting out its melody.

After a complete engine rebuild in 1972, this car has been very well looked after by its five previous owners. The many parts replaced and embellishments made over the years are testament to the love and attention paid to this car. As a result, it runs and starts perfectly and drives trouble-free.

The interior

  • The red leather upholstery is fantastic
  • All the lights and buttons work as they should
  • The chrome trim is a real eye-catcher.
In stark contrast to the exterior paintwork, the interior is a sea of red. Red leather upholstery covers the seats, dashboard, centre console and door panels. This vibrant colour adds life and energy to the car's cabin.

Thanks to the convertible roof, the cabin is bathed in light under the French summer sun. The soft-top mechanism is in perfect working order. The soft top clips show slight signs of corrosion, but the rest of the car is in perfect condition, along with the magnificent streamlined windscreen.

The partial red leather is in excellent condition, with the seats showing a slight patina. According to the owner, this is due to the soft top hoops rubbing against the leather during handling. The rest of the interior is in almost immaculate condition.

The same applies to the instruments, buttons and lights in the cockpit. The owner will note, however, that the tachometer remains stuck at 2,000 rpm. The large-diameter black steering wheel is the centrepiece of the car's interior.

The exterior

  • Repainted in 1988, the car looks great.
  • Attractive white paintwork with contrasting black soft top
  • Work carried out on the car throughout its life
Originally a coupé, this 1960 Jaguar XK150 became a convertible early in its life, according to the owner, with work carried out as early as 1963. The modification is difficult to spot because the car looks like an original variant with a retractable roof. The black cloth roof contrasts nicely with the off-white paintwork, which was repainted in 1988. The condition of the paintwork is still fantastic today.

The car sits on a sublime set of wire wheels with original Jaguar pebbles. They are fitted with a set of vintage Michelin tyres. As with the wheels, all the chrome on the car, including the bumpers, badges and frames, shine beautifully. There is, however, some light cracking to the Jaguar badges at the front and rear.

In addition, the windscreen wipers have caused a small scratch on the passenger side. Under the bonnet, there are very few signs of corrosion, as the car has been well maintained on a regular basis. The owner reports that there are no oil leaks.

The overall condition of this car is certainly due to the love and care that each owner has given it. A long list of replaced parts and refreshes from 1985 to 2022 is in the invoice stack, including full paint, bumpers in 2005 and a new soft top and cover in 2013.

Powertrain

  • 3.4-litre in-line 6-cylinder "Model S" engine with 3 in-line carburettors, 250 bhp.
  • Runs and drives perfectly
  • Electric fan mounted on a thermostat.
Much like the visual condition of the car, the 3.4-litre in-line six-cylinder of this 1960 Jaguar XK150 has been very well maintained throughout its life, particularly since its first major work in 1972. It was then that the engine was completely rebuilt and every part restored or replaced.

Since then, frequent overhauls by its owners and maintenance work have kept it in fantastic condition. The braking system has been overhauled several times, as has the fuel system. A new exhaust was fitted in 2005 and the car is fitted with new spark plugs and coil from 2018.

To make the car more usable on hot summer days on the Côte d'Azur, the car has been fitted with an electric fan activated by a thermostat. The car starts very easily, runs and drives perfectly. It leaves the garage regularly and is used as it should be.

In a nutshell

This 1960 Jaguar XK150 has spent much - if not all - of its life cruising around the South of France and, thanks to regular servicing, use and lots of care, is in very good condition. As well as being in fabulous condition, this 'S' engine is truly rare and engaging - and promises to be a great performer on the road.
