The Appeal
Fiat has always had a focus on producing sports cars in tandem with their more familiar, compact, economic vehicles. It’s a practice that continues today - and it was particularly established in the 50s and 60s. Abarths, Dinos, Morettis…and, of course, the 1500 OSCA.
The Spider Roadster was something Fiat credited to Pininfarina - but Pininfarina wasn’t particularly fond of being attributed to the somewhat American looking motor. As a result, they offered to produce something more European. More distinct. Classier.
Using the OSCA engine - which has a beguiling Maserati heritage - the Fiat 1500 OSCA was exactly that. A classy, definitively European convertible that was handsomely appointed and more than capable of proving itself on the road. It was sonorous, it was seductive - it was almost definitive of its era.
This example is beautifully appointed, clearly having undergone an impressive bit of restoration work. With a white colour scheme, striking red interior and plenty of wooden trims, we’ve no doubt this ASI-registered classic will evoke pride in its new owner.

Chromework is excellent and casts a beautiful shine
Black soft top on good condition with no rips or tears
Car is sitting on its original Fiat wheels, which are wrapped in Nankang tyres
Underside is free of corrosion
Beautifully kept, perfectly polished, and impeccably stylish, this 1500 is a real looker. Everything looks practically immaculate. We rarely see an Italian car of this era in such fine fettle, with everything from soft top to chassis in solid, damage-free condition.
Internally, the cabin is marvellous
Red textured seats are free of rips and tears
Door cards beautifully kept with bright door furniture
Wood-trimmed dashboard is excellent with no chips or cracks
Wood-trimmed steering wheel in very good order
All instruments are clean and legible

Internally, the car is equally resplendent. The wood trims are gleaming, the upholstery is free of rips and tears, and it’s clear the car has seen only gentle, respectful use since restoration. We can’t spot anything of concern save for the gentlest bit of patina to the interior brightwork.

Spirited performance from its competition-derived engine seals the car’s personality. While it’s certainly no record breaker, the OSCA engine is deserving of its praise, and sets this car above its period peers with ease. Everything here looks in excellent condition, and the long Revisione provides plenty of peace of mind - this car’s got everything ahead of it.
