The Appeal

Proving rugged and reliable from the outset, the BSA M20 and M21 were favoured by the British Armed Forces for three decades. Outside the military, these motorcycles were often paired with sidecars to provide roadside assistance with the AA and RAC, and some were even tuned for speed trials - a versatile machine indeed.
The vendor acquired this 1959 M21 in 2018 from Andy Tiernan Classics Ltd for £3,400 and has since carried out an extensive restoration which amounted to a further £3,000 in expenditure. The bike is something of an M20/M21 hybrid, as its original 600 cc engine was changed at some point in its life for the M20’s earlier 500 cc unit. The restoration work was carried out to a high standard and since completion in 2020, the bike has been briefly ridden to determine everything functions correctly.
