1955 Renault 4CV

Highlights

  • Fully restored bodywork and underside
  • Original French registration retained
  • Engine and gearbox fully restored

The Appeal

The first French car to sell over a million units, the rear-engined Renault 4CV was a similar success story to Germany's Volkswagen Type 1 Beetle. In fact, Ferdinand Porsche was invited to France after the war to advise Renault on the project. And while the extent of Porsche's influence on the final design is a hotly contested topic, you can't deny that the two vehicles bore marked similarities both in their design and engineering.

We're informed that this 1955 example has undergone comprehensive restoration. The bodywork and underside have been repaired and refinished, while the engine and gearbox have reportedly been rebuilt.

For fans of French "people's cars" looking for something a little more substantial than the ubiquitous Citroën 2CV, this Renault offers a fantastic opportunity.
