Introduced in 1937, the Simca 8 was almost predestined to be a success. The car was energetic, lively and inexpensive, with attractive styling and a charming character that won over even the most reluctant drivers. Add to that hydraulic brakes and much-appreciated precise steering, and it was a superb ambassador for post-war optimism. Until production ceased in 1951, it was still supported by a very enthusiastic clientele.
This 1950 model features distinctive black and burgundy paintwork, with a matching interior - to provide a perfect example of mid-century European design. This example also features period antagonist doors, a certain rarity in Simca circles.
In recent years, this beautiful Simca 8 has undergone a great deal of work - including a recent engine rebuild, new gearbox seals and a new exhaust system. The brakes have been upgraded with silicon components, reinforcing the existing hydraulic brake equipment. It's a beautiful example that we're sure will attract a lot of attention on the road.
