Lotus Elise – Win Yourself a Legend, by Being One!

Car & Classic

You don’t have to look far online before you find some sort of competition to win a car. It all started with those Aston Martins and Audi R8s you’d see parked in the departure lounge of Gatwick. Usually surrounded by men with impossibly white teeth, each keen to sell you a ticket. And indeed, Mr. Whiteteeth is still doing his thing, but so are many others. And this has of course permeated the classic car world. But in a much more agreeable way. Companies like Bridge Classic Cars for example, who live and breathe classic car sales and restoration, are a big name in the competition space. And rightly so. They offer everything from Capris to Corvettes, and have made many people very happy indeed. And now they have a Lotus Elise. But, unlike every other car they have raffled off, this one will help more than just the person who’s number comes up.

Bridge has teamed up with Lotus Cars and managed to secure the first, um, last Elise. There is an official plaque with the car to state that it is indeed the first car to be built as part of the Elise’s final run. The Lotus Elise, famed for its incredible chassis and handling, has been with us since 1996. It’s been through some changes since then, of course, but the recipe has remained the same throughout;  keep it light, keep it agile, keep it fun. And there can be few as fun as the final incarnation – the Lotus Elise Sport 240. If you want one, you’ll need at least £40k spare. Or, you could spend a mere £9 and be in with a chance of winning the car featured here.

And here’s where things get really wholesome. That £9 doesn’t go to Lotus, nor does it go to Bridge Classic Cars. Instead, every last penny goes to Norwich City Community Sports Foundation (NCCSF).The charity works to inspire, support and improve the community, helping children achieve their goals with the use of sports and movement. The car is being given away for just £9 per ticket with unlimited entries in the hopes of raising as much money for the cause as possible.

The charity’s trustee, Jake Humphrey, has also been a crucial part of the campaign, featuring as the face of the competition and talking about it on his podcast with Jensen Button. Jake does a lot of work with the charity in his own time.

Bridge Classic Cars have been organising and overseeing the running of the competition, setting up the important logistics, helping organise the content and making sure it runs as smoothly as their own competitions. Hence you can be sure that everything is pukka. The draw will be made live online at 7pm on October 31st, so you need to get in there now. You can watch the draw on the Bridge Classic Cars Facebook Page. Just think, for a mere £9 you can help a charity out, and you might also be able to call a 240bhp automotive legend and 100% future classic, yours. That’s a bargain in anyone’s book. Make sure you buy yourself a ticket!
