This is an ultra-limited edition, as only 1, 630 examples of the Clio V6 Phase 1 were produced in 20 months. This V6 follows in the footsteps of its big sister, the Renault 5 Turbo. Created as a concept car based on the V6 Trophy, the "Clio Renault Sport V6 24V" was presented in October 1998 at the Paris Motor Show to celebrate Renault's centenary. Renault worked with the British motor racing team TWR to carry out a feasibility study with a view to a possible production project. In the interests of speed, Renault decided to launch development of the model in July 1999, entrusting it to TWR, renowned for its optimisation of Formula 1 single-seaters, among other things. The bodywork components received composite cladding produced by MOC (FINUCHEM Group), a company whose expertise had already been put to good use in the Espace F1. Longer and wider than the production vehicle, the Clio V6 24V features specific front and rear fascias and body sides. The large front spoiler and enlarged rear wings are fully integrated into the car's design and are reminiscent of the legendary r5 turbo (almost 2m wide, i. e. 30 cm wider than a Clio RS).
