Description

Introduced at the end of the 60s, the BMW E9 was initially marketed with the legendary 2. 8-litre in-line 6-cylinder carburettor developing 170bhp. It was therefore called the 2800 CS (2800 refers to its cubic capacity and CS stands for Coupe Sport).

In 1971, the 3. 0 CS was launched with a 3. 0-litre engine developing 180 bhp. A few months later, the fuel-injected version (i. e. the 3. 0 CSi) with 200 bhp was launched.

The car was a huge success, both in the cinema and, of course, in the motoring world. The formidable CSL (Coupe Sport Lightweight) versions left their mark on a generation of sports car enthusiasts.

The BMW E9 is a great success with purists and BMW enthusiasts, thanks to its sublime lines (still with the look of the golden sexties) but also to the many references to this model that the Bavarian brand is currently making... So it's clearly a collector's item, a magnificent model, offering 4 real seats, comfort, power and an excellent driving feeling. What's more, it's a rare sight on our roads and at rallies, yet every time an E9 comes along, it's a huge success!

NYC's/ OXOTO hereby offers for sale a very fine example (chassis 2230072) delivered new in October 1971, in grey with light brown leather interior and less than 44, 000 km on the odometer (or rather 144, 000 km). Delivered new in Switzerland (Fribourg), it became German or was completely restored. We have a huge file of invoices as well as photos of the restoration in an expert report that confirms the very good condition of this superb E9 3. 0 CS. She became Belgian (Luxembourg region) in August 2019 (41, 964 Kms on the clock), her current owner has decided to resell her with a view to buying another car.

The bodywork is in good condition, you can see that this is a model that has been restored. We didn't see any trace of corrosion, either on the deck, in the wheel arches, in the fenders or in the rocker panels. However, we did notice some small bubbles in the paintwork in two places (bottom of the door on the right-hand side and on the front left fender), although it's very light. As for the rest, it's impeccable: no dents or scratches.

The chrome is in excellent condition, whether on the bumpers, window surrounds, mirrors, etc. The interior is in very good condition, although the leather on the seats has rather a patina, but this does not need repairing: no tears or heavy wear. Everything else, including the dashboard, woodwork, centre console, door interiors, roof lining, rear bench seat and carpets, is in perfect condition and works perfectly, as do the sunroof, electric windows, etc. As for the mechanics, everything was overhauled during the restoration and there are many new parts. The file of invoices attests to this, with restoration costs in excess of €28, 000, as explained in the expert's report.

We can also confirm the car's excellent roadholding: it starts without a hitch, accelerates very well, brakes very well, the engine revs well, and its roadholding is exemplary, with no worries to be noted.

In addition to its extensive file of invoices, we have an original owner's manual, the duplicate keys (also original), a certificate issued by BMW attesting to its authenticity, a full appraisal report, German technical inspection reports, a previous sales contract, the spare wheel, etc. A lift is available at our premises to show you the underside of the vehicle.
