Description
Although it looks very similar, this model is not a Fiat 124 spider, which is in fact much rarer ... Read this very precise article: - details above To sum up, in the mid-1960s, Fiat presented the Fiat 124 spider, which proved to be a great success. However, after 15 years of production and a market that was still good for this model, Fiat proposed to a coachbuilder subcontractor, the legendary Pininfarina company, to take over production of this model, while retaining the latest engine developments. The result was the 5th (!) version of the 124 spider, now called the Pininfarina Spider Europa (and Azzurra for the American market).
The main distinguishing feature was the black rear-view mirrors in the window quarter panels, but also because it was a strict 2-seater and, logically, the Fiat logos were replaced by Pininfarina logos. It was produced until 1985, when fewer than 7, 500 examples were made.
NYC's/ OXOTO presents for sale this superb example delivered new in Belgium (Mons region) in red with 100% original black leather interior and less than 76, 200 km. Its first owner (a wedding present) kept it from 1983 until 1998 when it clocked up 60, 000 kms. Its second owner, a well-informed collector, kept it until 2012 (68, 000 kms) before selling it to a friend of his who had hardly ever driven it, so he bought it back before selling it definitively in 2020 via NYC's. We sold it very quickly, following a post on our Facebook page. The current owner, who is well known in the world of classic cars, made the most of it, not hesitating to take it for many drives and even entrusting it to the Autoworld museum in Brussels for an exhibition!
What's excellent and extremely rare is that we have a huge file of documents (2 original registration certificates + a copy of the very first registration certificate), maintenance invoices (and even purchase invoices), an expert report (from 1992!), a technical inspection report, and even a copy of the 1998 sale advert in the newspaper! All these documents attest to the car's original mileage and to the fact that it has always been very well preserved... The bodywork looks really good, there's nothing to say about it: no dents, no scratches, no corrosion and it has never been in an accident. There's nothing to expect from the bodywork... in fact, it wouldn't have been selected for the show if it didn't look so good... The soft top is also in excellent condition.
The interior is just as beautiful, with absolutely nothing to say. The dashboard, the leather, the carpets, the centre console, etc. are all in order and everything works (electric windows, for example).
As for the mechanics, they've been well looked after. See the file of invoices on our site, recent and not so recent, everything is in order. It came (from afar) by road to our premises, without the slightest problem.
The latest MOT report dates from May 2024 (75, 140 km) and only mentions a minor (and frequent) remark about a possible fluid leak, although we didn't see anything on the deck. As for the rest: nothing to say!
We also have the COC for possible export.
A bridge is also available at our premises to show you the underside of the car.
