Description

History of the Jaguar XK 150 FHC The Jaguar XK 150 FHC is undoubtedly one of the most compelling sports coupes of its time, embodying the perfect symbiosis of elegance, performance and British craftsmanship. In 1957, Jaguar introduced the XK 150, an evolution of the famous XK series, a model that not only brought technological innovations, but also refined the British manufacturer's classic styling language. It was designed by Jaguar co-founder Sir William Lyons. With its sleek, aerodynamic design and striking front end, the XK 150 returned to the styling lines of its predecessors, while bringing modernised bodywork with a higher waistline and wider tracks. The Fixed Head Coupé (FHC), in particular, appealed for its closed shape, which not only gave it a refined look, but also offered excellent long-distance capability. But the XK 150 was not only a masterpiece of design, it was also a technical revelation. Under the long bonnet, the powerful 3. 8-litre, 220 bhp engine was installed from 1959. Thanks to modern four-wheel disc brakes - a revolutionary innovation for a production car of the time - the XK 150 offered excellent roadholding and impressive deceleration, making it superior to its competitors. It was on the road that the XK 150 FHC showed its full potential. With a top speed of over 200 km/ h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/ h in around eight seconds, it was one of the fastest production cars of its day. But it wasn't just pure performance that impressed - the XK 150 also offered exceptional driving stability for its time and a high level of comfort, making it equally suited to sporty driving and long journeys. The XK 150 also left its mark on motor sport. The DNA of Jaguar's legendary Le Mans race car was incorporated into its design, making it a highly sought-after car for privateers. Its combination of power, precision and stylish presence quickly made it a favourite with connoisseurs and collectors alike. With only a few thousand examples produced, the Jaguar XK 150 FHC remains a highly coveted collector's item to this day. Those lucky enough to own or drive one not only experience the fascination of British motoring history, but also the perfection of a sports coupé that was far ahead of its time. The XK 150 FHC - a timeless masterpiece that perfectly embodies the spirit of classic grand touring. History of the Jaguar XK 150 FHC A refined man on wheels - the Jaguar XK 150 FHC, a coupé that combines British nobility with sporting refinement! Produced on 22 September 1959, this noble car crossed the Atlantic to the United States, where it fell into the capable hands of a lady from Belvedere, California. The location couldn't have been more appropriate - a truly sublime Belvedere for an automotive eye-catcher. After an initial full restoration, the lady in question decided to part with her rolling jewel in 1993. Through the intermediary of an exporter, this 'British gentleman' ended up in Germany, in Nideggen to be precise, where it was re-registered in 1994. A short diversions to Münster in 2006 found it in the expert hands of a collector with a passion for classic British automobiles. At the behest of its new owner, an uncompromising 'Nuts & Bolts' restoration began in 2007, leaving no stone (sorry, screws) unturned. A reputable Jaguar workshop took on the task and, after two years of painstaking work, the coupe shines like new. If you want proof, we recommend you read a comprehensive photo book on the restoration - a veritable picture book of automotive art! The body is now finished in Jaguar's signature 'Gun Metal Grey' - a colour that lends the car an aura of cool elegance and highlights the many chrome parts fitted. But more than just cosmetics has been done: the technology and interior have also been professionally and appropriately overhauled, upgraded where necessary, and in most cases even renewed. A five-speed gearbox has been carefully integrated to make driving more enjoyable. Electronic ignition? Of course it does. A tripmaster connection? Also on board. And to accompany the drive in style, a contemporary Blaupunkt radio with I-Pod connection is stylishly integrated into a specially crafted console with leather surround and toggle switches that hold in...
