Description
HISTORY OF THE MERCEDES R107/ C107 The Mercedes Type 107 was presented to the public in 1971. It was the direct heir to the W113, more commonly known as the "Pagoda". At the time, the SL 107 incorporated all-new technologies, both in terms of comfort and safety, and was still equipped with its hard-top, a real advantage over its competitors. Its coupé sibling, the C107, was added to the range for 10 years, from 1971 to 1981, when it was replaced by the all-new SEC (C126). The 107 came with a wide range of engines, from the 280 SL, with its in-line 6-cylinder, to the 560 SL equipped with the famous V8. There were also three phases in its production: the 1st from 1971 to 1977, the 2nd from 1977 to 1985, and finally the 3rd from 1985 to 1989. Its career came to an end in 1989, after 18 years in the catalogue (a record for SLs) and more than 237, 000 units produced (another record). It was replaced that same year by the R129.
THE VEHICLE This model, in astral silver (735) with a magnificent original blue velvet interior (902), is in very good condition. All the documents relating to the sale and the vehicle's history are included in the file. The car has just undergone a major mechanical overhaul in a specialist workshop. It is of French origin, delivered new on 16 December 1977, having been ordered on 25 July of the same year. It is one of only 395 examples of the 450 SLC sold new in France between 1973 and 1980. Originally, this 450 SLC was not fitted with the 5. 0L exterior kit. However, it did have a number of options, including Tempomat (440), central locking (466), Behr air conditioning and 4 electric windows (586). The car only had three owners: the first from 1977 to 1981, the second from 1981 to 1983, and the last from 1983 to 2021. It was the latter who had the car fitted with the 5. 0L kit.
