Model History: In October 1952, at Earls Court, Donald Healey presented his latest prototype, powered by an Austin A90 4-cylinder engine. The car won over BMC, who then decided to produce it in series. The Austin Healey 100 was officially launched in May 1953, and Donald Healey named it "100" to emphasise its ability to reach 100 mph (160 km/ h). The Austin Healey 100 BN1 was powered by a 2, 660cc 4-cylinder engine developing 90bhp, with a 3-speed gearbox. In its test of the BN1 model in 1953, the British magazine The Motor recorded impressive performance figures: a top speed of 171 km/ h, a 0 to 100 km/ h time of 11. 2 seconds, and fuel consumption of 12. 6 L/ 100 km. Only produced between 1952 and 1955, the Austin Healey 100/ 4 BN1 made it possible to take part in major motor races and rallies, such as the Tour Auto and the Mille Miglia.
