In 1987, Honda unveiled the new Goldwing, equipped with a new 1, 500 cm3 6-cylinder engine, offering a limited power output of 100 bhp. This engine is characterised by its great smoothness in all circumstances. It is equipped with two large carburettors, one for each bank of cylinders, and these are electronically managed. Also worth noting is the reverse gear that this machine is fitted with as standard, making it easier to manoeuvre when stationary, given its considerable size and weight.
The reverse gear is electric and is activated when the bike is in neutral by a lever on the left-hand side of the fairing. To start the engine, all you have to do is open the START button. The panniers are equipped with a centralised lock that is operated via the single lock located on the central pannier.
