Benjamin Type C economy 1922 Company/ History Benjamin was a French manufacturer of cyclecars between 1921 and 1927, based north-west of Paris and founded by Maurice Jeanson in Asnières, eight kilometres from the centre of Paris. The company began with a range of cyclecars, identified as Benjamin Type A, Benjamin Type B and Benjamin Type C. The Type C was a sporty version of the Type A, with the volume of its 4-cylinder engine increased to 750 cm3. What are cyclecars? After the First World War, almost everything was in short supply in Europe. To promote mobility, a favourable tax was introduced in various European countries on cars weighing no more than 350 kg and with a cylinder capacity of 1100 cm3. Factories, workshops, garages and sheds sprang up everywhere, producing an enormous variety of vehicles. Paris and the surrounding area alone had more than 100 cars, large and small. The engine block is in good condition and the magnet has been overhauled. History The history of this car is very interesting. The car was built in 1922 and we believe it was driven around Paris at that time. Between 1922 and 1968, we don't know if the car was around all the time. But what we do know is that the 1968 car has been in a private museum for 50 years and was probably restored in the 80's. After that, the car went to a German and the car stayed in his house as an art object in his living room.
