Description
This particular Ferrari 250 GTE was delivered new in France to Mr Pierre Louis-Dreyfus, a famous Parisian racing driver and Le Mans veteran, and we are currently researching the history of this car further. Believed to have come from a famous French couturier, the car has been in Holland since 1996 and has been part of two major Ferrari collections since then. The car has been repainted in the past and refreshed, but the interior is still in original, irreplaceable black leather. Today, it has just come out of a 2-year period and a 160, 000,- euro investment at a Dutch specialist, including a complete engine rebuild. Fully serviced after 1, 000 km of running-in, the car is ready for a new keeper. The price is 385, 000 Euro. Please do not hesitate to request more information, a video presentation or more photos if required. History of the model In the 1950s, Ferrari enjoyed great success with the 250 series of road and racing cars. The 250 series, the most successful of the company's early ranges, included many variants and was characterised by the use of the 3-litre V12 engine designed by Lampredi or Colombo. When the Ferrari 250 GT 2+2 was launched, it was the only Ferrari designed to carry more than two passengers (there were some early Ferrari 212s built by Ghia in the 1950s that could carry more than two passengers, but these models are rare). The 250 GT 2+2 filled a long-standing gap in Ferrari production and proved to be an extremely popular model, capable of both high-performance driving and luxury touring. The classic V12 engine configuration was used with a single overhead camshaft per cylinder bank acting through roller rockers to actuate the overhead valves. Engine displacement is 2953 cm3 and, with a compression ratio of 8:8:1, the engine develops 240 bhp at 7000 rpm. The GTE is equipped with an electric overdrive that acts as a fifth gear, allowing comfortable high-speed driving. Very Superior Old Cars is a classic sports car consultancy founded in 1992.
