Description
For sale is this very special 1990 MK3 Fiesta XR2, RS 1800, the project started life when it was purchased as a bog standard XR2 with just 13000 miles on the clock. The build spec was for a road-going RS1800 track day car To this end it was completely stripped to a bare shell it was a totally rot-free shell so no welding was needed. a RS1800 Turbo bonnet was fitted then the body was completely sprayed inside and out in white. A full RS Recaro trim and dash was fitted (the RS replacement speedo showing 43622 miles) along with a lovely original RS wood rim. The engine build consisted of a 2L block fitted with Ross forged pistons, steel rods, steel crank, steel light flywheel, comp bearings, high output oil pump, Full race RS 1800 head and Piper race cams with Piper vernia cam gears. Omex injection kit with Jenvy throttle bodies plus mappable ecu, ( the Omex kit with the ecu cosy alone over £4000 ), custom-made big bore four branch manifold, EBC race clutch, MK4 RS 5 speed box with LSD, Samco water hoses, Full comp adjustable rose jointed and poly bushed suspension with all-round AVC Coil overs, Front and rear strut brace, Drilled and grooved EBC oversized discs with Cosworth callipers to front and RS2000 rear disc conversion with green stuff pads. 7x15 Compomotive MT5 alloys WITH 195/ 45/ 15 tyres. Rear roll cage, four-point harness, fire extinguisher. battery switch, bonnet pins also fitted.
Due to the original builder's demise, the car has never seen a track day and has been in dry storage for over two years till I purchased it. I have completed a full Re-commissioning of the car, changing all fluids and filters, plugs, battery and a new mot. As in my opinion it was a bit wild for day-to-day road use, I fitted a standard RS1800 Re-con head and cams so its superb to drive on the road and goes extremely well. Included in the sale is the race head and cams. plus all the rear trim and seats should you wish to ever put it back to full road spec.
As my health has deteriorated, I have only covered around 100 miles in the car since putting it back on the road so it is now on SORN. it comes complete with its private transferable reg and a brand new all-weather cover. It's been up for sale with a Classic Car dealer at £16995. However, it has not sold with him, so it is back home with me now on a private sale at £14995. Considering the build cost was reputedly around 35k its a bargain !Must go as no garage room, plus poor health so not getting used, open to offers. It's on the button with a new MOT ready to drive anywhere.
