Description
1972 Bond Bug 750ES
Price: £13, 000 (Insurance Agreed Value of £13k)
Location: Edinburgh, Scotland
Let me start off by saying that this is not an easy decision but I have come to a realisation that I have too many vehicles and I need to focus on the ones that are actually getting used. I do not have the time or the money to keep them all so the collection must shrink... I also have a Reliant restoration project I need to finish and funds are needed to do so.
The Bug gets very little use and on sunny days I'd rather be riding my motorcycle. No point in having it if it'll just sit in the garage.
I'm confident that these cars will only go up in value so this is a bargain for someone. If I could keep it I would. It'd probably fetch a few grand more in a few years time.
*** The Bond Bug:***
The previous owner had this car for I believe over 20 years and has put a huge amount of time and money into restoring it. It has a genuine mileage of around 43k miles. Photos speak for themselves.
Underneath it's like a new car. New powder-coated chassis and all suspension elements. Brand new stainless steel fuel tank and full exhaust system. New brake lines, bushings, shocks, fuel lines, brakes, cables and more.
It has the correct for the car and fully rebuilt 750cc engine which has just been properly run-in and serviced with fresh oil and filter (less than 50 miles ago). Gearbox and rear axle also fully rebuilt with receipts to prove. I have properly tuned the carburetor and gave the car a proper shakedown after purchase. All nuts and bolts tightened up etc. It also has a new Zenith carb and it's ready to be enjoyed.
It has had a brand new wiring loom installed so all the electrics are new and functional incl. relays etc. Interior was also fully retrimmed and it has the rare F1 steering wheel. New heater core also installed.
Honestly, there is too much to list.
*** Extras:***
I have two boxes of spare parts including some engine parts and various bits and pieces. I have the original Bug wheels which will need refurbished + some other spare wheels. Included is also a fully rebuilt steering column and steering box (these are impossible to find nowadays!). I also have the side windows and wooden templates should you ever need these re-done + one for the boot lid. I have the original jack for it and spare.
I also have a trailer dolly for towing the car and a custom-made cover to fit the shape of the Bug, which is £250 on its own.
There are two big folders that come with the car. All sorts of receipts and also the original manual + parts catalogue.
The paint on the car I believe is original and it looks great. There are only a couple of spots where it could be improved. A full respray would bring this car to concourse quality but it doesn't need one.
There is definitely something I forgot to mention.
Any questions call the details below or send me a WhatsApp message/ DM on Facebook. More photos available on request.
Please don't send silly offers. I do need the space but I am not desperate to sell this car. A '73 Bug which wasn't as clean as this one sold recently for £11, 100 + fees at Matthewsons Auctions.
