Description
1971 LHD Citroen ID/ DS 23 petrol carb 5 speed manual in good condition. Originally an ID19 from Lannion, Brittany imported to UK 2013, then via Pallas Auto over 2 years was specced as a DS23 Pallas with 5 speed gearbox & engine swap, nice leather interior and Pallas trim etc. V5 records this change to 2347cc engine. We have the paperwork & invoices from then, mainly from Pallas Auto and Citroen Classics, plus some indy places. 2 previous UK owners then us.
Even though it doesn’t need one it has been MOT’d and checked over every year inc. oil change. New battery just put on. Anything that needed doing each year was done & bills kept. NEW MOT done August 2025.
There seems little point in going over what great comfy good looking cars these are and all the innovations that were so far ahead of their time as you probably already know all that. Yes people stop, take pics and ask about it all the time.
This one works as it should, it’s in good overall condition from when it was restored 10/ 11 years been used regularly since. The burgundy paintwork looks original but not 100% sure if it is, some touch ups, small dings and flat paint fading in areas (mainly boot), so not a show winner but certainly still very presentable, after a clean and polish does look good. The interior is nice, good carpets and the leather seats are great condition and so comfortable. We have the extra front bits for the headrests, just took them off as felt a bit weird. Have some spares too like spheres, original French Plates (been used in some photo shoots).
Mileage showing is c. 12500 but can’t be relied on as a five figure gauge. MPH speedo clock was added when work was done a few years back. It’s got a decent new Sony DAB Bluetooth USB stereo that charges phone, with JBL rear speakers, phone holder, proper seat belts front and rear, front fog lights, reversing light, tow bar, Stop lock, 2 sets of keys.
Would describe this DS as a good usable middle ground one with decent UK history, not mint (could obviously be improved in places if bothered) but certainly not a horror story. Really enjoyed using it. If anyone across the channel is interested, can meet at Poole ferry terminal. Open to reasonable offers. It's a DS what else matters....
