Description

Two owners from new. First from 1969 to 1988 the second (me) from 1988 to present day. I am putting my GT6 up for sale, unfortunately, for health reasons and lack of use.
A brief history consists of the first owner buying her from Triumph Coventry Export division and having it shipped out to South Africa and on to Zambia where he was working. It was registered with its UHP registration from the factory I have original bill of sale and was given the same number back when it returned three years later to the UK and Stockport where it remained until I bought it as a non-runner in 1988. I still have all the shipping documents and other bits of paper to back this up although its all just interesting information now. I kept the car for about 12 years before any restoration work began ending in 2006 when it passed its first MOT in many years. Wings, sills and a lot of mechanicals were replaced the list is too numerous to mention here. I do have a box file full of receipts for everything bought.
The pictures form part of the description so look at them carefully. The paint work is hand painted in coach enamel. It has flaws and has a few chips and marks from use. However, many people at car shows I have attended did not believe it was hand painted. The restoration is over 20 years old now and is holding up extremely well. It has had little use really since it was restored and has had virtually no use since 2019. It has always been garaged and hardly ever seen rain.
Work done but not limited to includes high torque starter motor. Recently rebuilt and cleaned carburettors, seats re foamed and new covers, new head lining. New brake linings (green stuff) discs, front springs. There is the occasional rear seat fitted, and the original Triumph tool kit is still there. I should mention that there is a small slow oil leak, well it is a Triumph! Overdrive works on 3rd and 4th gear I should mention reverse can be hard to select on occasion a typical Triumph trait. Also included is the original workshop manual that has always been with the car.
The price I am asking if you have done your homework is below the average price that is being asked for the GT6. I think this is fair and that gives the opportunity for someone to take her to the next level without overspending. I am in no rush to sell I don’t really want to but for the reasons stated. So, no prodders and tyre kickers please serious enquiries only. Feel free to contact me for any information you may want I will always be honest. I will accept payment by bank transfer or cash on collection. Silly offers will be ignored. Thanks for looking.
