Description
6 previous owners, the car was first registered in the UK in 1989, and is a genuine Californian Car. I purchased the car privately from its previous owner. The car has been subjected to an extensive engine restoration, which has included modifications to allow better oil flow and improve oil pressure. The car has had a new Holley carburettor, fuel pump, electronic ignition, stainless steel exaust, overhauled gearbox and power steering. A new servo was fitted along with full brake overhaul. The cars wiring has been sorted so everything works as it should, including all 4 electric windows. The vacuum system has been repaired to allow the central locking and ventilation system to function correctly. The interior has had new carpets and floor mats and with both front seats fully retrimmed, the rear seat is still original as is the excellent headlining. The car benefits from the addition of American Racing alloy wheels which are fitted with slightly wider than original tyres giving excellent ride quality. The car has been fully resprayed, and had very little rust, most bodywork issues appeared to be parking scrapes and dents. All panel gaps and fits are excellent. All new rubber seals were fitted along with all glass removed. The front 2 piece bumper and over riders have been rechromed, the rear bump is still original chrome and shows some age related marks. The rear window vent chrome is also nicely patinated. The car starts easily and ticks over smoothly once warmed up, the drive is quiet and relaxing with light steering and excellent brakes. If you choose to push the 6. 4 litre v8 a little harder it will go cruise all day long at 70mph and has no problem keeping up with modern traffic. The car was a factory air conditioned model though the compressor and other parts were removed at some time, I have a compressor and was going to obtain the other parts needed to restore the system to operational condition. This car has been kept in a dry storage unit and no expense has been spared on it over my ownership, it is a multiple award winning vehicle and possibly the best example available today of this model. The car had been imported from the states in 1989, the person I purchased it from had it approximately 7 months, I believe he was looking to get a Mustang so had to move this on, I originally brought the car as I'd always wanted an American vehicle, the colour was the thing that sold it to me, I believe it's called Pagoda Green, it looks blue/ turquoise in my opinion depending on the light but it looks absolutely stunning as many have commented. The interior is a piece of design genius based on an aircraft cockpit, with lots of chrome and levers from the jet age, These cars were known as Flare birds on account of their flared body lines. The exausts are also lovely on this the car has an excellent burble which is just loud enough but not so much that it annoys the neighbours, its just a really well mannered easy to drive car, though if you give it some right foot it will take off like a modern car, the condition of its bodywork reflects its california origins. These cars are well catered for in terms of parts, virtually everything is available and only takes a week or so to arrive from the states.
