Description
This noble car supplied in 1984 then it found the long term owner and family in 1985 it is thought. Laterly moving to the Isle of Man, the car was kept at his British residence, used and serviced on visits.(see history). The car was well looked after, keeping it's original condition and stance.
The car is finished, as you can see, in a rare and modern looking, but totally original shade, Ice Green. The interior is soft and original beige/ cream leather. This includes the steering wheel. No black plastic here.
This car, being a 5000 series was fitted with all the later Spirit features, riding and handling with authority.
Another feature is a full tonneau, from boot top to dashboard, with even a section for the inner windscreen (see hand drawn sketch). This is seperate from the normal hood cover all in matching Everflex, in original condition.
I can only assume that this was specified for use while standing at a Yacht Club or Marina, to maintain a nautical look.
Similarly individual is a second radio antenna, fitted opposite the original. I don't know if it's still connected, as it doesn't rise as the original. At the moment it is of little use as the Blaupunct original radio is not playing- it lights up but only makes a rude noise. There is a cassette slot, but that's not good eitherThe fabulous paintwork and sheer style gains compliments and friendly waves from the public, and you need a little patience to answer all the questions from passers by.
There is a full compliment of handbooks, records, bills and full toolkit and jack.(God forbid you should need one).
There is
a hidden present in the boot- a full Continental touring tool kit, worth a small fortune today, which is well worth leaving with the car . It seems that the previous owner had some trouble in the South of France, and charged him a lot to fix it , see the invoice with the history, so the owner wanted to not have to wait for spares, or be charged air freight , so he brought his own.
Bearing in mind classic prices for a nice Mercedes, or even a humble Mustang, this coachbuilt and museum worthy piece of British custom built excellence bears a very modest price- 69500 Sterling.
I am not looking at chancers or silly offers will be ignored, just a nice genuine deal with no complications, May look at part exchange with a fine European or American Classic without silly inflated prices, only valued fairly and pleasant discussion is welcomed. It took me two years and many disappointments before this turned up at the very proper Balmoral dealership, who had known and serviced this car for many years. To try and show what a special car this is, I took many shots . If there are any more specific photos you would like call me please
contact me, or for an appointment to view. Many thanks.
