Description
I used to race in scrambles back in the day in the NE Centre. In the latter years, I rode Greeves which I purchased new in kit form to save purchase tax (showing my age!). Beating the tax man, and building your own bike was a no brainer! I had the 250 blue tank , and the 380 red tank Griffons, culminating in my last year racing with a QUB.
I bought this bike from the Rathmell family, in as found condition, see mud splattered images! It was Malcolm's practice bike, and within the package Malcolm kindly gave me his original signed contract with Greeves, his Shell Team shirt from that year and some small trophies, and a signed letter from himself. The bike itself is frame number 58C 177 with GPE1 174. Despatched to Terry Silvester motorcycles of Holmfirth on 25th July 1969, verified with GRA.
I had a guy lined up to recommission the bike locally. Time went on, and he had not progressed due to ill health. He was working on the ignition side until then. The gear selection was stubborn, but he reckoned it was just due to the standing time. Basically, the bike is as I bought from Malcolm. My own health has taken a downturn, as I require hip replacement, which involves long waiting times, or deep pockets!. So, with deep regret I have decided to sell the complete package as it stands.
This may sound odd, but I would consider a deal on a modern automatic car due to my hip issue, and would add funds for the right car. A car is more important at the moment unfortunately.
The bike is advertised elsewhere, and verbally through classic MX channels.
