Mazda MX5 MK1 - 1. 6i Monaco UK Special Edition
Selling my low mileage MX5 MK1 1. 6i manual which is a rare Monaco Limited Edition. This car is 1 of only 450 made in the UK, in exceptional condition and with zero rust or corrosion anyway. Fresh MOT till April 2026.
This car has had extensive mechanical work done to it by me and also its second to last owner. He did a fresh re-spray in the British Racing Green, rebuild of the suspension, including ant-roll bar links, disks and brake pads, Receipts and paperwork all included. I did myself timing belt change with new timing belt, pully's, gaskets, water pump, battery, oil, and coolant. It went in for new anti-roll sway bars - top of the line. Along with a brand new racing radiator and spark plug wires. The rear dampers were also replaced and everything is all working absolutely beautifully.
I have genuinely loved this car since I bough it last year and drove it all throughout the winter and it is breaking my heart to be selling it. The reason for the sell is that I am University Student and I cannot get parking permits for my residency at University and I have nowhere to store it. Along with being broke after spending so much money doing this car up.
It is ready to drive, looks fantastic and is an extremely fun and reliable car (never once broke down on me). The whole interior is all custom cream leather seats and doors (no rips or tears), plus a matching cream soft-top from factory. It also comes with a British Racing Green colour matched hard-top that is interchangeable. Stainless steel style bar is fitted which suits the car very well with the top down. The wooden Nardi Steering Wheel is also custom and matches the wood trimmings. The cars radio is not in the car for the photos but will be for viewing.
A stainless steel black box upgrade has been fitted which gives the exhaust a nice loud but not too loud sound. All tires are fitted with original Mazda alloy wheels. The sills have also been welded previously, plus correctly treated with waxoyl to give long life to the car. There is zero rust on any of the sills or arches. Extremely rare to find examples of MK1's in such clean and original condition. Car pulls perfectly and gear box is extremely sharp and clean.
Comes with the private number plate of RSX 53M which is worth a few hundred pounds on its own if sold separately. Log book shows 8 former keepers including myself. No past accident damage and is HPI clear.
Overall this car has had extensive upgrades and work to it whilst also being an absolute classic and in a very clean, beautiful condition. Reason for the price is that it is a special edition (Monaco special editions typically go for a lot higher than usual MX5 prices due to being limited edition) Along with custom interior and extensive mechanical work being completed.
Along with the car I have written up a how to guide. This basically just fast forwards any new MX5 MK1 owner and goes into what I felt worked best for the car, upgrades it would benefit from etc. Just as this being my first real car and project I have learnt a lot!! And wish to share that with anyone looking to buy it.
