Description
TRIUMPH TR4a 1967 ‘Cafe Racer’ in Dark Blue, slightly lowered on TR6 Wheels with fantastic character and patina.
Was originally a USA car. Was there until 2022 when it was Purchased by Joop Stolze in Holland (big classic car dealer) then a local gentleman Purchased it from them at a cost of £9500 and got it shipped to the UK with more cost in shipping/ import duties/ registering.
He started restoring it but realised it was too difficult as he didn't have any covered space, so that's when I Purchased it and restored it over the last two years.
Huge list of new and replaced parts : Has a stainless steel exhaust, twin SU HS6 carbs, piper cam and electronic ignition. Engine has had new shells and bearings, piston rings, gaskets, figure of 8 seals, cam chain etc. New wiring loom, carpets, seatbelts. Body was removed and chassis stripped , cleaned and painted with new suspension bushes/ rubbers, brake discs/ pads, calipers, too many bits to list (have loads of photos).
On a side note it is a tr4a but has a solid rear axle as USA cars did not have IRS. It’s a 4 speed, non overdrive.
Have got a stack of receipts and in the last 3 years it has had £6000 in parts. Box of bits including bumpers, sidelights, trim bits etc). Has a soft top and frame (not fitted ) and tonneau cover. Also still have the cars original wire wheels with spinners and adapters.
Heater box fitted but not wired up, requires wiper motor and paint underside of bonnet.
I have built the car with usability and condition in mind as I didn't want to be precious about where and when I drive/ park it, so it does retain some small dents/ scratches. I like it like that as it looks like an old car and adds to the character, but someone else may want to spend some money on a professional respray which I'm sure would also make it look lovely, all personal preference. Also the paintwork looks better in the photos than in the flesh.
Genuine reason for sale.
Can jack the car up/ put it on some ramps for anyone seriously interested.
Cheers
Paul
