Description

Sad sale of my late father’s most prized possession, the below description was written by him.

2 litre, 6 cylinder engine which produced 104bhp @ 5000rpm.

4 speed manual gearbox with overdrive on 3rd and 4th.

Suspension is fully independent.

Factory fitted extras include seatbelts and folding sunroof.

The car underwent a body off, nut and bolt restoration between 1983 and 1994.

Has had engine rebuilt, gearbox replaced and more recently; the differential rebuilt.

The wood faced dashboard is not standard and has extra instruments fitted (oil pressure gauge and battery condition meter). It also has matching wood door cappings which are again not standard fit.

The Revolution alloy wheels, whilst correct for the age of the car, they are not standard fitment from new and the tyres are two sizes wider than standard.

The car has been with us since August 2017, my late father spent in excess of 500 hours maintaining and improving the car. He would say that the 500 hours didn’t include the polishing!

The front brakes have been updated and new brake calipers fitted.

New carpets and seat cushions fitted.

Updated modern specification driveshafts installed to reduce noise levels and driveline vibrations.

Electrical problems are common in cars of over 50 years old so a number of switches have failed and all been replaced. The car bought my parents so much joy, lovely days out driving from place to place and attending car shows and vintage rallies.

It was important to my Dad that the car continues to be driven and enjoyed. He kept a mileage log of everywhere he ever went in it and the purpose of the journey.

The last time the car was driven was in convoy of my Dad’s funeral procession.

It is an incredibly sad sale but we, as a family, are in agreement it should bring someone else as much joy as it did my Dad.

It’s a lovely little car and in incredible condition for it’s age.
